Digital Medicine – Opportunity or Tech Gone Awry?
Digital medicine has become a ubiquitous term in healthcare and organizations worldwide are engaging with technology solutions to enhance care. Many of the approaches to date have been underwhelming and a direct to consumer approach has generated many untested technologies with limited efficacy. Is digital medicine simply another wave of tech hype in healthcare or are we witnessing an immature technology find its footing in an effort to address the growing chronic healthcare needs of modern society?

SPEAKER: Dr Paddy Barrett is a Consultant Cardiologist at The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin with a special interest in how novel technologies will shape the future of medicine. Having trained in San Diego, California at the Scripps Translational Science Institute his research has focused on digital medicine technologies in healthcare, the physiology of microgravity during NASA parabolic flight campaigns and the biometric signatures of emotional states. In addition to hosting the internationally acclaimed podcast series ‘The Doctor Paradox’, his work has featured in Time Health, The New York Academy of Sciences, The New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet.

VENUE/DATE: Talbot Hotel Stillorgan, Co Dublin, Wednesday August 28, 12.30pm – 2.00pm
