Apply for the Exam

Only Student Members of the MRII can purchase the MRII Examination Syllabus and apply for the MRII Examination.
Non-members should first apply for membership. You can print a receipt when you complete your transaction and your syllabus will be dispatched within 3 working days. Please enter your address carefully. In the event of a query please telephone Andrea Gaffney on 058 43955 or email info@mrii.ie

This option is for those who are sitting the MRII Examination in full for the first time or are repeating the MRII Examination in full. 

You will need to study the following:

  1. The MRII Examination Syllabus (email info@mrii.ie to request a copy of the table of contents).
  2. The MRII Examination Syllabus industry section
  3. IMSTA Code of Practice
  4. Medicines for Ireland Code of Practice
  5. *IPHA Code of Practice e-learning modules which are available to MRII members here which will be included in your final mark.

*You need to successfully complete all the IPHA Code of Practice e-learning modules and forward your confirmation of same by email to info@mrii.ie on or before DATE TBC. Failure to complete this process will result in you losing marks from your final result. For reference, the e-learning module headings are as follows:

  1. The Advertising Legislation
  2. IPHA Code of Practice for the pharmaceutical industry
  3. IPHA Code of Standards

This option is for those who are repeating Paper 1 only.

You will need to study the following:

1. The Introductory Medicine/Science elements of the main syllabus (Chapters 1-5). For reference, the chapter headings are as follows:

  • Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology
  • Introduction to Pharmacology
  • Introduction to Bio-pharmacology
  • Disease Processes and Bacteriology
  • Introduction to Immunology

2. The MRII Examination Syllabus industry section

3. IMSTA Code of Practice

4. Medicines for Ireland Code of Practice

5. *IPHA Code of Practice e-learning modules which are available to MRII members here which will be included in your final mark.

This option is for any member who applied for 2020 (who did not sit in 2020) and currently holds a copy of the September 2019 syllabus purchased from the MRII (this will remain valid with the possible replacement some of the Industry Section).

This option is for any member who has successfully completed the ABPI Examination and wishes to attain Full MRII membership.

You will need to study the following:

  4. *IPHA Code of Practice e-learning modules which are available to MRII members here which will be included in your final mark.

Terms & Conditions

  • We do not provide refunds.  All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card information.
  • No information collected through this form is passed on to another party, other than the payment processor.
  • Your examination fee can be carried over for one year. If costs to hold the examination increase the following year, you will be charged that additional amount. There will also be a nominal charge for provision of updated materials. You will need to re-apply.
  • If you do not sit the Examination on the second the fee is forfeited.
  • If you are repeating your MRII Examination you need to specify if you are repeating one or both papers.
  • Your results will be posted to the address you have provided within two weeks of the Examination date.
  • Student members are obliged to attend at least one MRII event before sitting the MRII examination.
  • Following successful completion of the MRII examination members should endeavour to attend as many meetings as possible in each calendar year.
  • You should carefully retain your Certificate of Completion. Duplicate certificates cannot be re-issued (a letter confirming your successful completion can be issued).
  • The closing date for receipt of applications is tbc – depending on the Examination date.
  • From time to time it may be necessary to update the Examination Syllabus – the MRII only take responsibility for updating copies purchased directly from MRII Head Office.
  • Should you wish to apply for a recheck of your script you should contact the MRII office. The deadline for a recheck application is tbc – depending on the Examination date. The re-check fee is €50. Scripts cannot be returned to candidates under any circumstances.
  • Paper 1 is two hours: 10.00am – 12.00pm | Paper 2 is two hours: 2.00pm – 4.00 pm.
  • On Examination Day please bring a pencil, a sharpener and an eraser.
